Hornsby Junior Rugby Union Club

After an extended break owing to bad weather and a Queens Birthday long weekend, the boys were certainly keen to get back out on the field for a bit of Rugby. So it was that on a fine Saturday morning we arrived at Waitara to take on the Chatswood Greens.

Matthew Croker led the team onto the field and from the kickoff Hornsby signalled their intentions that they meant business.

Ben Montgomery, Zachary Izzard and Daffyd Tiueti made the presence felt from the outset with some great tacking from Daffyd and some impressive runs from Ben and Zachary. It was not long before Hornsby opened the account with a great try.

Half time and the score is 4 – 1 Hornsby!

Following half time oranges and a couple of substitutions, Hornsby returned to the field with renewed vigour.

It was also a stronger opposition that met us on the field with Chatswood gaining some good ball and putting a bit more pressure on our players.

Ben was able to strip the ball from the opposition in an impressive fashion on several occasions and made the most of the opportunity. Charlie Cullen, Daniel Gabb, Hunter Bird and Tevita Faupula impressed with some great tackling. 

Full time and the score was 6 – 2 Hornsby.

Great tries were scored by Ben Montgomery (2), Dafyyd Tiueti (2), Daniel Gabb and Tevita Faupula.

Man of the Match was awarded to Zachary Izzard with the Great Effort Trophy awared to Dafyyd Tiueti.
