April 2011 : Meet Ben Manion
The Hornsby Lions are hoping for a good season after they secured the services of Ben Manion, the former coach of Shute Shield club Warringah. Manion told the Hornsby Advocate that he was excited about the new challenge and prasied the Lions squad for being eager to learn new skills. "The team spirit has never really been a problem," he said. "They needed someone to steer them in the right direction and give them a chance to play as a team rather then as different individuals." With the Lions embarking on a new era as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2012, Manion said he had a "two year plan". "I want to make sure the club is improving as a whole in order to have a really big year for the club for their 50th anniversary," he said. |

March 2011 : Hornsby Trials and Bus Trips
The Hornsby Lions had two trials organised in March. The first trial on March 12th v Hawkesbury Valley Rugby was a great success with everyone gaining some fitness and some good lessons learnt. The boys wrapped up the day with drinks at The Fitroy Hotel in Windsor then the bus trip home before winding down at The Hornsby Inn. The Second Trial against Kariong was a very successful day with thankfully good rugby weather and the boys enjoyed the workout against both Kariong Rugby and Warnervale Rugby followed by friendly drinks at The Kariong Tavern. Very special thanks to Chris Woutersz for organising the trial, it took alot of his time to align the three clubs and to reschedule at the last minute when the weather turned bad on the 19th. Great Work! | |
