Hornsby 12 – Barker 7

Last time we played Barker it was a nail biter and this week was the same.  
We started like a house on fire with a great try to Damien Page which saw 
us go to a 7 nil lead early.  We looked dominant for all of the first half 
but were unable to score any further points, going to the break still just 
7 nil up. The second half got off to a bad start with Barker scoring and 
converting almost straight from the kick off to lock scores up at 7 – 7. 
From that point on it was an absolute arm wrestle, the dead lock finally 
being broken by a length of the field intercept try to Mark Jones. A few 
tense minutes followed but the good guys were able to hang on and claim 
the 12 – 7 victory.

Points today went to Mark Jones (3), Damien Page (2) and Lilo (1). 
 

(Thanks to Damien for helping us out today. Damien offered to step in 
because we thought 4’s would be short and that 3s would have plenty of 
players – but as it turned out, it was 3’s who were short resulting in me 
having to run on for them as they only had 14 at kick off.  Swapping me 
for Damien – I think I know who got the better of that deal!)


We are now 6th – 6 points behind Briars in 4th. Briars play Blue Mountains 
(10th) and Oatley (8th) while we play Waverley (1st) and Lindfield (2nd) 
so we need a fair bit of luck to make it!
