2013 Centurions Night

Well done to Rosco for organising a great Centurians night at the Horsnby RSL. A special thanks to Daniel Ala"tini" for his speach and reminding us of the Islander influence that has been a part of Hornsby Rugby for many decades.

2011 Centurions Night wrap up

The first Friday in November 2011 was the annual Centurions dinner which was held at the Hornsby Inn. The night marked the official launch of the 50th Anniversary and this was announced by Owen Edwards who was a player during the founding era of the club in 1962. The night was attended by over 80 players and supporters that represented each generation from the 1960ís through to the current playing ranks. A speaker from each of these generations gave an account of the highs and lows over the last 50 years.

The common theme that came from each of these speeches was that the club is bigger than any individual and that it was important that whether you were involved in the club in its early days or in its present each of us has a responsibility to ensure that Hornsby Rugby is represented as a leading community sporting club next year and for another 50 years after that. Through the Centurions contacts a Friends of Hornsby package is offered which allows centurions to choose from one of three packages. Each package offers different levels of benefits. From these packages and other fundraising on the night the Centurions evening raised $5000.00. The committee is pleased to announce that this money will be used to purchase the new playing strip for 2012. The playing strip will be going back to the traditional jersey for all grades and will feature the new 50th anniversary logo. At the end of the 2012 season players will have the opportunity to buy back their Anniversary jersey.

The Team of the Decade concept was launched on the night and it was a starting point of discussion that will lead through to the announcement of these teams at the Gala ball to be held later next year. Marty Harris will continue to send through the updated nominations and we will continue to ask for nominations at the next function.

A special thank you to Ross Storey who organised such a great night and to those who purchased Friends of Hornsby packages your merchandise will be delivered in the next couple of weeks. There is also the opportunity to still purchase packages.
